Phono Cables
A clean record is the first step towards getting the best sound from your turntable. The next link in the chain is the analogue phono cable. If it is not supplied with the turntable, choose this connection carefully to make the most of analogue playback. Dedicated phono cables use lower-capacitance conductors than conventional analogue cables. RCA connectors are the most common option, while more expensive systems may use balanced XLR connections.

Matching a phono cable to your turntable
Check whether the turntable has a detachable signal cable and which connectors it uses. For the connection between a cartridge and phono stage, consider cable capacitance, particularly with MM cartridges, and the grounding arrangement. Distinguish a low-level phono signal from the line output of a turntable with a built-in preamplifier. Choose a length suitable for your setup.
