Digital Cables
Digital audio cables generally fall into three main categories. Optical cables are among the best-known and most widely used, particularly with TVs, AV receivers and integrated amplifiers. However, HDMI connections with eARC are increasingly replacing them for TV audio. Coaxial cables are another important option, commonly used with CD players, streamers and Blu-ray/DVD players. They can support higher-resolution audio, while offering similar surround sound support to optical connections (DTS and Dolby Digital). USB cables are also widely used in audio systems with DACs and are considered an excellent way to transfer a digital signal. The most common USB connector types are A, B and C.

Optical, coaxial, USB or HDMI?
Choose a digital connection using the inputs and outputs shared by both devices. Optical, coaxial, USB and HDMI differ in supported formats and communication methods. Check the required audio resolution, surround format support and cable length. An identical connector type alone does not guarantee matching functions on both devices.
